I can now definitively say that Jonathan is running. At the Jubilee conference Sunday morning, there were long hallways to explore and he ran down them. It's a very cute toddler run, but it's definitely a run. And he swings his arms in a nice cross-pattern.

Grammy arrived late last night so Jonathan greeted her this morning. He definitely remembered her, but still needed a little bit of warm up time. However, after playing with puzzles, books, and blocks, I'd say he's quite happy. She went upstairs to her room and Jonathan said, "Daddy?" (which I guess is for all of us now!) and then he followed her all the way up to her room - two flights of stairs and a hallway in between.

Jon is spending today and tonight at the Jubilee conference downtown, praying for the conference and conferees in the prayer room. Jonathan and I went to meet him for dinner. Now before I proceed, I want to make clear that I would have been taking the bus even if we had a car, because parking downtown is a pain.

Jonathan has another cold and his nose is running and he is sad. Please pray for health and happiness. When we read the story about Miss Spider's Tea Party (she invites the bugs but they all run away so she is sad - then when she is kind to a stray moth, all the other bugs join her party) Jonathan kept turning back to the page where the spider is crying and he would make his sad/sympathetic face. We did manage to make it outside for some sunshine and fresh air.

I have not been too interested in paintings or going to art museums (except I did always like to see the Tiffany glass work.) I will admit that I had my doubts about whether Jonathan would like the Van Gogh bits, simply because I had no appreciation for them myself.

Jonathan and I have finished the state outlines and are now learning the placement of the states within the US map. The bits comprise an outline map with the state in question filled in with red. Some of the New England states are hard to see. I wondered if Jonathan would follow, but now I know he does! I can see his eyes move to the right place as each bit is shown.

As indicated previously, one of Jonathan's bit cards is Van Gogh's painting "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear." The last two times I've showed it to him, he has pointed to his ear (and maybe even said something like "ear.')

Heather and I went shopping for jeans yesterday; Heather to try to find jeans that don't have the new low-cut waist line, and me to replace some worn out pairs that have spontaneously ripped when doing various projects around the house.

Jonathan loves to watch the garbage truck come down the street and pick up the trash. This morning, we spent 25 minutes standing at the window, watching the world, waiting for the truck, watching the truck, and learning new things.

I don't know a whole lot about the whole reality TV show craze, (I actually haven't seen a single one) but since this is a blog, I feel liberated to spout my views on the subject.
There is an article in the Pittsburgh paper a couple of days ago regarding a former Pittsburgh priest, who has moved to England and is now doing a reality TV show about revitalizing an aging Anglican parish.

Jonathan has been very happy with his bits recently, asking for them a lot. He is never bored with the picture bits, but I have had to scale down on the math and reading cards. However, the other day I discovered a way to show the math dots that keeps him riveted. I say the number several times, turning the card and showing a new angle for every repetition. He likes that much better and thinks it's pretty fun. He will look at six in a row when I do it that way.
