While looking up information on the Pennsylvania Use Tax (which is another story for another day) I found a regulation that states that tourists in PA who stay longer than 7 days are required to pay Use Tax on items that they brought into the commonwealth and used while they were here. How enforceable is that?!?

This morning Jonathan clearly said, "puzzle." It was not a Mommy-only interpretation, I'm sure. Anyone would have understood it.

We went late to a party the other week and also stayed late to help clean up. It turns out that this year the guests were not beer drinkers, so the host had lots left over. He was not unhappy about that, but he did have a few bottles of light beer that he lamented still having. I offered to take a couple of bottles to try in fondue.

Friday evening, Jonathan was cranky, he fell asleep early, and he felt hot. I wondered if it might be an ear infection because his right ear had been squeaking when he nursed.

In situations where it's fun to count down (jumping, etc.) Jonathan will now say, "one... two..." He doesn't seem to want to say three, but the first two are very clear.

This morning Jonathan and I went down to the basement. I opened the dryer door for him and told him he could take the clothes out and put them in the laundry basket if he wanted to.

My new server arrived last week, and it came preconfigured with Gentoo, so it booted up, and I checked it out, but I really want a Debian system, so tonight is my second attempt at getting it to install. The first attempt failed miserably, but...

I called my friend Alissa today and her four and a half year old son William answered. I said hi and asked for his mom and he said, "Well, she's downstairs right now, but you can talk to me and tell me what you want to say and I can tell her." It was not that long ago that he would only say, please call back. It wasn't even that much longer before that when he couldn't even answer the phone!

Last night when it was time to go bed, after I changed his diaper, I took Jonathan down from the table and said, "Go into the other room and say good night to Daddy and then we'll go to bed."

Rhythm is such a funny word I had to look it up to double check the spelling. Anyway, Jonathan has shown advancement in doing puzzles, having patience to turn the piece more than in the past. Today, he successfully put the triangle and square pieces in his shape sorter, where before he only could do the circle.

Jonathan has an Italian board book that Aunt Janet brought him from Italy, which I stumble through as best I can. After I read a book, he will usually turn through the pages again himself. This time, he babbled in a more singsong voice, unlike his usual talking. I really think he was trying out the Italian!

When I was in the grocery store today, a lady came up to me and said, "Did you see...?" and proceeded to tell me a sad and horrific story she had read in the newspaper. I said, "no, that's one reason I don't read the paper" and she went on about it and how angry she was. I started to move on, and she said, "Well, have a nice day." Yeah, not quite as nice as it had been. . .
