Here are my notes from when Jon was in the Dominican Republic:
Saturday - first dinner with Daddy gone - When Faith saw that Daddy was not in his chair at the table, she looked for him in the computer room. The next morning when I got up first, Noah commented that usually Daddy is up first. I asked, "Do you remember where he is?" Noah says, in an "of course" tone, "In his bed!" When I replied that he was not, then Noah remembered "minihan public."
They were really good in church, except for Noah during the sermon, wiggling and lolling. After church they were exceptionally well behaved.
Jonathan helped Noah get to bed on nights when I had to take care of Faith. Jonathan often helped me by putting on Faith's diaper and pants.
We had a relaxed pace for everything except getting to Faith's checkup appointment on time. One of the reasons Jonathan was looking forward to Jon being gone (that he was unable to articulate for a while) was that he was excited about having more of my time, that I would not be spending any time with Daddy so I'd have more time for him. This spurred me to make a special time for Jonathan more often than we had before.
I realized if something needed to be done, it was me who had to do it, so I might as well do it now since there's no point in waiting to see if someone else does it. That was not as tiring as I thought, and I thought that I should just do those sorts of things anyway even when Jon gets back.
God poured out much grace and I poured out lots of prayer.
Spring really helped - everyone was cheerful and excited and we could play outside a lot.
--End of Daddy Gone Notes--
3/30 - Faith copied me signing water - she will copy me but has not yet signed it on her own.
4/1 - Jonathan, "If I had the chance to pick a permanent tattoo, it would be a full body iron man suit." That's why he doesn't have the chance...
4/15 Noah has started making Jonathan's name three syllables, sounding somewhat like, "Aw-huh-in"
One time during a meal Noah burped and I told him to say excuse me. After he said it he asked why you need to say it. I said that it's not polite to make body sounds in public so you need to ask people's forgiveness. He replied, "That's where Daddy went, the 'public!"
Faith has added more words to her vocabulary. "stool" "upside down" "that" "go" She even said "where shoe?" and then "there we go" when she found it. That last sentence was not very clear, but it was obvious what she meant. Last night (4/17) we were visiting friends who have a cat, and when it walked in, she exclaimed about it. I asked her if she could say, "cat" and she replied, "dat!"
Jonathan remarked that his favorite sport is baseball. Noah then said, "My favorite sports are [miniature] golf, and that one where you throw the ball into the net [basketball] and baseball."
Conversation in the car on the way to church this morning:
Jonathan: What animal is yellow?
Mommy: Goldfinches.
Jonathan: Ok, I'm a goldfinch.
Noah: [roar]
Jonathan: Are you a wookie?
Noah: Yes. [roar] I eat goldfinches.
Jonathan: But we're friends, right?
Noah: [roar]
Jonathan: Well, I'll fly away.
Noah: I caught you, yum, yum, yum.
Jonathan: You ate me whole, I'm flapping in your stomach, flap flap flap flap...
Noah: Bad bird [pokes at tummy]
Jonathan: I poked a hole in your stomach and flew out.
Noah: I put you in a frying pan.
Jonathan: I flew out.
Noah: But you're dead!
Jonathan: I turn in to a tyrannosaurus rex and stomp on the pan. I can eat wookies, too!
Noah: But we're friends, right?

Couldn't verify you're not a robot. Wait a moment and post your comment again.
